  • WHERE IS THE LONGHOUSE?

    The Longhouse is located just outside the coastal village of Karitane, on the quiet scenic coastal road 30 kilometres from Dunedin

  • CAN I HAVE MY WEDDING AT THE LONGHOUSE??

    Yes we are delighted to host you on your big day. We are strictly limited to 12 large wedding packages per season hosting up to 100pax on-site. Smaller weddings and elopements are by arrangement.

  • THE LONGHOUSE IS A DRY HIRE VENUE - WHAT DOES DRY-HIRE MEAN?

    The term “Dry Hire” means that the client pays for the use of The LongHouse venue & accommodation only. Food, staffing, audio-visual equipment, decorations, catering and theming need to be organised externally by the client rather than the venue. You might think of it as hiring the space as an empty shell.

  • THE LONGHOUSE IS A LICENSED VENUE - WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

    This means that the venue has a licence to sell alcoholic beverages and the client must select from one of our alcohol packages for any events or retreat programmes. BYO is not permitted.

  • THE LONGHOUSE IS FOR EXCLUSIVE HIRE ONLY - WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

    The Longhouse House is not open daily to the general public. It can be hired as dry hire accommodation or for an event and ancillary to that event the accommodation and other facilities can be used. It does not operate daily like a hotel, café or restaurant. Events might include reunions, film screenings, product launches, corporate events, memorial services, retreats and much more. The venue can be hired for numerous days ancillary to an event.

  • WHAT INCLUSIONS ARE THERE AT THIS VENUE?

    By hiring The Longhouse, clients have exclusive use of our two acre property, which includes the house, alfresco deck, expansive lawns, shared amenities and if they choose to hire the accommodation also they can sleep up to 12 guests in our 6 luxurious rooms. Accommodation guests will also have access to our surfboards, spa, firepit and amenities, allowing them to make the most of the incredible coastal environment.

  • ARE THERE LONGHOUSE PERSONNEL ONSITE?

    Our team will be here to meet and greet you and walk you through the property as well as bidding you farewell on exit. As most of our guests value their privacy we are not onsite during your stay but available by phone should you need to contact us. We will assist guests with their every need from the point of enquiry to the farewell and in the event of an emergency.

  • CAN I BOOK AN INDIVIDUAL ROOM?

    At The Longhouse our accommodation must be hired in its entirety (6 rooms) not as individual rooms. This must be paid for in full at the time of making the venue hire payment. Our beds are 5-star rated for the comfort of our guests.

  • DO THE ROOMS HAVE ENSUITE BATHROOMS?

    All our room have private en-suite bathrooms. Organics bathtowels and amenities are provided including robes.

  • IS THERE ON-SITE PARKING?

    The Longhouse has on-site parking limited to 6 parking spaces. For events we will liase with you but parking will be reserved for event staff and key persons for each event. For weddings this must be pre-arranged and all other guests MUST be bused to and from the venue. If someone is to miss the bus service they must arrive and depart by taxi or Uber.

  • CAN I USE THE SERVICES OF ANY CATERER AND EVENT COORDINATOR?

    We have a preferred list of suppliers that we like to use for our events as they know and love our property almost as much as we do. By prior arrangement you are free to use your own suppliers. (There may be a small cost for on-boarding these providers).

  • ARE THERE NOISE RESTRICTIONS? IS THERE A CURFEW?

    Yes, noise regulations apply. More detail can be found in our Terms & Conditions of hire. We have strict curfew in order to respect our neighbours. All music must be off by 10pm, last drinks will be served by 11.00pm and all guests must be off site by 11.30pm aside from those staying in our accommodation.

  • ARE CHILDREN OF ALL AGES ALLOWED?

    The Longhouse does not cater for children under 12 unless by prior arrangement. At all times minor children are to be supervised by an adult.
